OUR HISTORY

Blue Couch Media's history is over a decade long, beginning with one of the three founders Jason Christman.  Jason first started out as Celestial, Inc. back in 1998 after an extensive career working with his mentor Richard McLean at Light Works Productions based out of Southern California.  Celestial, Inc. specialized in creative design work for marketing campaigns, print and web related projects.  In 2005, Jason blazed his trail up to Portland, Oregon, where he grew up.  

Once there, Jason brought on board his brother Kyle Christman. Kyle has a fascination for all things art, digital and traditional alike. His artist background includes an Art/Multimedia degree from Southern Oregon University and a partial Masters degree from Academy of Art University. He rocks it with Flash animation, 3D modeling, After Effects and Photoshop, Film Production and Editing, and is also extremely adept with illustration, concept and figure drawing. 

Greg James' business Solstice Video (that began in 2005 and focused primarily on wedding and event videography and is still a small division of Blue Couch) was a perfect fit for the team.  His main focus is on all things film and video. A co-founder of Playground Films back in 1994, Greg uses his many years of nationally acclaimed experience in the independent film industry to create his commercial and industrial work.  Since earning the distinction of producing one of the Top 25 cult-independent films of all-time, as seen on “Roger Ebert & The Movies” in 2000, Greg has gone on to write, shoot, direct, and produce multiple feature and short films. A recognized local actor, Greg has also acted in many film and commercial productions, which being in front and behind the camera lens, provides a unique perspective when working with other actors.

Over the years, Blue Couch has grown on to become a solid powerhouse of creativity. As we continue to blow up, we welcome others to join in the fun... catch us if you can.
